Christine Sweet at The Loft
Christine Sweet will teach a workshop for writers at The Loft
Literary Center in Minneapolis from 1:00-4:00PM on July 10, 2010,
"Reading Your Work in Public". Whether you're about to embark on a book tour, are a member of a writing group, or just want to polish your reading-aloud skills, this class will help you take your writing "off the page" when you are called upon to read it in front of people. It's not a public speaking course or a voice acting workshop — it's about interpreting your written work for the ear in a way that is personal to you. We'll discuss and compare effective and not-so-effective reads, and practice using physical cues that you can internalize for public readings. No fear! It's all about making the process more enjoyable for you and your audience. Please bring a sample of your own writing, suitable for marking with pencil. Both prose and poetry are welcome.
